Breaking News: Bishop names Anita Hahn as next district superintendent of Grand Traverse District

Michigan Area Bishop Jonathan D. Keaton today announced the appointment of the Rev. Anita K. Hahn as Superintendent of the Grand Traverse District effective July 1, 2011.

Hahn’s appointment follows the completion of the 6-year appointment of current Grand Traverse District by Superintendent, Dr. Robert J. Mayo.

“Reverend Hahn is a welcome addition to the Cabinet team for West Michigan. She brings gifts for preaching, teaching, pastoral care and administration along with a history of fruitful ministry in the local church, service as Chairperson of the District Committee on Ordained Ministry and more than 10 years of experience as a teacher of the hearing impaired," Keaton said. "As a bi-lingual member of cabinet, she will broaden our collective experience and add to the depth of our
conversations.”

Hahn is currently the pastor of New Life UMC in Six Lakes, Mich.

She has led the church since 2006, previously serving at Whitehall/Claybanks UMC where she left in 1998.

She holds a Master’s of Divinity from United Theological Seminary, a Bachelor’s of Science in Special Education Centering with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and a Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Grand Valley State University.

Hahn and her husband Kevin have three children.
