New CD by Lansing artist to benefit Open Door Ministry of Central UMC

Ko Eun Choi, a doctoral candidate for Piano Performance at Michigan State University, and piano accompanist for Holt United Methodist Church and the Korean Presbyterian Church in East Lansing, has recorded a collection of sacred music on CD, entitled "As the Deer."

The 14 tracks were all performed on the Steinway Concert Grand Piano at Michigan State's music auditorium and include contemporary favorites such as: "As the Deer", "Give Thanks", "He is Exalted", "Oh How He Loves You and Me", and "Above All".

The recording also includes well loved traditional music in fresh arrangements, including: "Rock of Ages", "Amazing Grace", "Blessed Assurance", and "Jesus Loves Me".

Medley's of popular sacred songs are also on the recording.

Choi was born in Incheon, South Korea and has advanced degrees in Piano performance from Sun-Shin Women's University in Seoul, South Korea and from Michigan State.

Proceeds from the sale are being contributed to Open Door Ministry in downtown Lansing. Housed at Central United Methodist Church across from the state capitol building, Open Door provides an ongoing ministry to many of Lansing's needy residents including, showers, laundry facilities, mail drop, emergency food pantry, and a community meal each Thursday noon.
